PURPOSES AND GOALS: The purpose of the American Guild of Organists is to promote the organ in its historic and evolving roles, to encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral music, and to provide a forum for mutual support, inspiration, education and certification of Guild members. MEMBERSHIP: Individuals: 21,000 Description of Membership: Working professional organists, choir directors, teachers, organ builders, technicians and suppliers to the field, plus students, clergy, amateur musicians and organ enthusiasts. Non-sectarian. PUBLICATION(S): Journal: The American Organist Magazine Description of Publication(s): The American Organist Magazine is a monthly, including both scholarly and practical feature articles; reviews of new music, books, and recordings; a national calendar of events; a "positions available" section (free to employing institutions) and display and classified advertising.
