PURPOSES AND GOALS: Founded in 1942 and chartered by Congress in 1962, the American Symphony Orchestra League provides leadership and service to American orchestras while communicating to the American public the value and importance of orchestras and the music they perform. MEMBERSHIP: Individuals: 5,000 Description of Membership: Orchestras are voting members. Individuals and other organizations (music businesses, publishers, etc.) may join as associate, non-voting members. ONLINE PUBLICATION(S): Newsletter: Recorder, Upbeat, Education Update Journal: SYMPHONY Address and telephone number same as headquarters above. Description of Publications: Publications are targeted to various orchestra constituencies: managers, trustees, volunteers, educators, musicians, music directors, subscribers, et al. SYMPHONY is a bimonthly publication. DESCRIPTION OF MAILING LIST: Mailing list is rentable, subject to management discretion.
