To ensure that our composer, lyricist and publisher members and foreign affiliates are compensated for the public performance of their works; to assist music users in complying with the Federal Copyright Law through our music licensing service; to maximize our collec-tions, both domestic and foreign, and secure reasonable license fees through negotiations with users; to protect our members' works against unlicensed performances and against legislative encroach-ment; to provide quality service to both our members and our licen-sees, including providing useful and timely information; to promote the interest of our writer and publisher members around the world.

Playback updates ASCAP members on the activities of their society and contains feature articles and information of interest to ASCAP members and music professionals.

Mailing list is not rentable. ASCAP's Directors forbid the use of its mailing list for any but ASCAP purposes.

ASCAP does not sponsor a national conference but holds annual membership meetings in New York , Los Angeles and Nashville . ASCAP presents awards for adventurous programming in the orchestra, chamber music, and choral fields. In addition, ASCAP hosts gala awards events honoring the writers and publishers of the most-performed ASCAP songs and scores in the fields of pop, Latin, rhythm & soul, country, gospel, symphonic and concert band, film and television music. The ASCAP Deems Taylor Awards honor excellence in non-fiction books and journalism, as well as radio, web, and television broadcasts, on the subject of music. Other honors bestowed by the society include the ASCAP Henry Mancini Award, the ASCAP Golden Note Award, the ASCAP Pied Piper Award, and the ASCAP Founders Award.
