PURPOSES AND GOALS: The Chopin Foundation of the United States, Inc . is a national non-profit organization dedicated to the support, both financial and professional, of talented young American musicians. Since its inception in 1977, the Foundation has provided young pianists with performance opportunities, exchange programs, special scholarships and awards and the chance to compete in the American National Chopin Piano Competition (ANCPC) held every five years in Miami . The Chopin Foundation is committed to making classical music available to the community, initiating such diverse activities as free major public concerts, home musicales, and free publications. The Chopin Foundation mission is carried out nationally and locally by its four regional councils in South Florida, New York , San Francisco and Seattle . MEMBERSHIP: Description of Membership: Regional Councils of the Chopin Foundation in South Florida, New York, San Francisco and Seattle have their own memberships comprised of individuals who are interested in promoting Chopin = s works for presentation and study, and committed to assisting talented young pianists further their careers. PUBLICATION(S): Description of Publication(s): Polonaise magazine, published twice a year, presents interesting articles on Chopin = s music, interpretation, and other related topics and is distributed to all music schools and music organizations in the United States and to Chopin Societies around the world.
