PURPOSES AND GOALS:

The Music & Entertainment Industry Educators Association was organized to bring together educators and the leaders of the music and entertainment industry in order to more successfully prepare students for careers in these fields. The goals of the association are to:

•  provide a marketplace for ideas, strategies, and original concepts in education to meet the professional challenges of the 21st century;

•  provide a focus for information about the music industry including business practices, legal aspects, technology, performance media and related areas;

•  foster scholarship on the music industry and on music industry education;

•  assist institutions with the development of music industry programs and curricula;

•  promote student interests in the music industry and support the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association;

•  facilitate interaction between the music industry and music industry education.

MEMBERSHIP:

674, including students (MEISA), instructors, professionals, and institutions.

Description of Membership:

MEIEA represents higher education faculty, music business professionals, and institutions interested in music business studies. MEISA is the student branch of MEISA representing students from the US , UK , and Australia that are interested in music business studies.

Description of Publications:

The MEIEA/MEISA EZINE is emailed in pdf format to both MEIEA and MEISA members each month of the academic year. It contains industry news, member news, job/intern announcements, chapter news, articles, editorials, etc. The MEIEA Journal is a professional music industry journal. Submitted papers are blind juried by music industry professionals and educators. MEIEA.ORG present news, announcements, downloads, a private member area, etc.

DESCRIPTION OF MAILING LIST:

We no longer rent the mailing list, but instead offer ad space in the EXINE that goes to all members.
