PURPOSES AND GOALS: To provide songwriters with the protection, services and activities they need to succeed in the business of music. MEMBERSHIP: Individuals: 4,500 Description of Membership: The Songwriters Guild of America (SGA) is a voluntary songwriters association run by, and for, songwriters. The Guild constantly seeks to strengthen songwriter rights and increase royalties through appropriate action directed at publishers, industry groups, the courts or Congress. SGA provides members with a wide range of services which are beneficial to songwriters. We have three classes of members: unpublished "Associate" members; published "Regular" members; and "Special Associate" members for the heirs of deceased songwriters. True to its history, the Guild maintains its efforts to advance, promote and benefit the profession of songwriting.
